West Coast Adventure – Washington – Seattle Part 2

Day 42 – We took a trip to the top of the Space Needle today!  It was one of the kids’ favorite things we’ve done on this trip.

It’s a bird…

It’s a plane!!!

It’s Superman!!!!!!!

We then drove our car onto a ferry at Pier 52 and rode to Bainbridge Island (35 min trip across the Puget Sound).

Inside, the ferry holds hundreds of people and looks like an airport terminal.  This photo shows about 1/3 of the seating area with a snack place in the middle part of the ferry.

Once there, we drove around the north half of the island and came across “Grand Forest”, which was indeed grand!!  This is my kind of forest!   Huge ferns, giant, old evergreens, and only a little light filtering in through the trees.  Perfection!! 👍

After that we found a neat park with a beach and tons of driftwood!  The kids loved trying to stay on the logs and not touch the sand.

We drove around the downtown / shopping / restaurant area for a bit before boarding the ferry for the return trip, but most places were closed since it was a Monday evening.

We had a great view of Mt. Rainier lit up by the sunset on the way back!

Tomorrow is our last full day in the Seattle area. We wish we could stay longer!  Maybe next year.
